GimiAccess manufactures a range of different sized, slip-resistant Concrete Warning and Guiding Blocks, designed and produced in accordance with SANS 784:2008. Our range of concrete Tactile Paving Blocks are hard-wearing and offers the durability required for outdoor use.
WARNING TACTILES
Warning Tactiles, or Hazard Tactiles, have round protruding nodules and are used to warn pedestrians crossing over a road. Warning tactiles can also be placed at decision points or direction changes, when combined with a guidance route. Warning Indicators are designed to function much like a stop sign. When a visually impaired person reaches an area with Warning Tactiles they know that there is a hazard in their line of travel. He/ she can now slow down and determine the nature of the hazard before proceeding.
GUIDANCE TACTILES
Guidance Tactiles, also known as Directional Tactiles, are placed at the back of the warning block sections at pedestrian crossings. They are there to direct the user to the crossing point. Guidance Tactiles can also be used for guiding a person along a route over open spaces where it is difficult to navigate.
Guidance Tactiles consist of a series of parallel raised bars, oriented in line with the prescribed direction of travel. They are installed to safely lead visually impaired pedestrians along a
